WASHINGTON (June 29, 2010)—Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations L.L.C. has voluntarily recalled 4,097 Bridgestone R192 truck/bus tires, size 275/70R22.5, manufactured at the Bridgestone plant in Warren County, Tenn.
These tires may have problems with the sidewall indicator dimples technicians use to monitor sidewall wear, the tire maker said.
Bridgestone told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the specified depth of the dimples may result in exposed body ply cord. This could cause the cord to deteriorate, creating the possibility of air loss at the dimple and increasing the risk of tire failure, the tire maker said.
Bridgestone will begin contacting tire owners in July for free tire replacement, NHTSA said. Owners of the affected tires may contact Bridgestone at 1-800-465-1904 or www.firestonetire.com.
