SACRAMENTO (June 29, 2010)—The California Air Resources Board is accepting comments until July 6 on its regulation mandating that auto service providers in the state check and inflate the tires on every passenger vehicle they service.
The new regulation is set to go into effect Sept. 1. July 1 was the original date, but CARB was forced to move it back after the California Office of Administrative Law disapproved the regulation March 22. The OAL found the regulation as written to violate California's clarity and necessity standards, and also found the regulatory file did not contain all required documents. CARB has since made those corrections, but doing so forced the agency to reopen the public docket for comments.
Full copies of the regulation are available from the Automotive Maintenance and Repair Association at [email protected] or 703-532-2027.
