SHANGHAI, China (June 16, 2010)—Trelleborg Automotive said it will set up a research and development center in Shanghai to offer noise and vibration damping and brake solutions for light vehicles.
The Trelleborg A.B. unit said the R&D center will include equipment for controlled testing of brake and engine noise. Using on-site test chambers, Trelleborg will be able to simulate the brake noise experienced in driving conditions anywhere across the globe, at temperatures ranging from -30 degrees C to 45 degrees C.
The center, which will open by the end of the year, also will include one laser scanner which will enable the measurement of vibration levels of various engine components, the firm said.
Trelleborg has five wholly owned production facilities in China, one of those produces and develops anti-vibration components for light vehicles. The firm employs about 1,100 in the country.
