GREENVILLE, S.C. (June 14, 2010)—Michelin North America Inc. has earned a Platinum Award from the National Business Group on Health for its continued commitment to promoting a healthy workplace.
Michelin said it earned the award, the organization's highest honor, for its Choose Well-Live Well program, a long-term strategy to shift the company's primary focus to wellness, prevention and quality of care for employees, rather than treatment of illness. The program provides a health advocate to help employees and their families navigate the health care system and improve efficiency through better coordination of care, Michelin said.
The program also integrates preventive care and consumer-driven medical plan design with health food options, health risk assessments, health coaching, weight management and other services, the company said.
Michelin was one of 66 employers to receive a 2010 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles award and one of only 16 to receive the Platinum Award. This is the second year the Greenville-based tire maker has been recognized as a leading employer for healthy living.
