GREENVILLE, S.C. (June 14, 2010)—Michelin North America Inc. has earned a Platinum Award from the National Business Group on Health for its continued commitment to promoting a healthy workplace.
Michelin said it earned the award, the organization's highest honor, for its Choose Well-Live Well program, a long-term strategy to shift the company's primary focus to wellness, prevention and quality of care for employees, rather than treatment of illness. The program provides a health advocate to help employees and their families navigate the healthcare system and improve efficiency through better coordination of care, Michelin said.
The program also integrates preventive care and consumer-driven medical plan design with health food options, health risk assessments, health coaching, weight management and other services, the company added.
Michelin was one of 66 employers to receive a 2010 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles award and one of only 16 to receive the Platinum Award. This is the second year the Greenville-based tire maker has been recognized as a leading employer for healthy living.
