SOLON, Ohio (June 11, 2010)—Excel Polymers Inc. has developed a family of compounds to fill the void by DuPont Performance Elastomers' discontinuation of Hypalon chlorosulfinated polyethylenes, the Solon-based company announced.
Working closely with customers over the past year, Excel has created a number of non-CSM solutions for a number of applications including high- and low-durometer extrusion profiles, high- and low-durometer molded electrical connectors, molded high-temperature and oil-resistant connectors, hydraulic hoses and industrial roll coverings, according to Excel.
In some cases Excel has actually improved performance characteristics over Hypalon, including color stability, flame resistance and abrasion resistance, company spokesmen said. The company is working to expand the product portfolio for the new compounds, they said.
Meanwhile, Excel has field-tested the compounds and has them available for sampling in North America, China and India, the company said. For more information or to contact Excel representatives, visit www.excel-polymers.com.
