MISSISSAUGA, Ontario (June 2, 2010)—Watson Brown HSM Canada Ltd. has opened its first rubber recycling facility in North America, in Mississauga.
The company said it uses a patented process developed in the United Kingdom that takes surplus material in the form of reject parts, flash and trim, and devulcanizes the material through a “mechanochemical” process before returning it to the original customer for blending back into virgin compound, and molding more product.
Glossop, England-based Watson Brown claimed there are minimal changes in performance and physical properties following the devulcanization process.
