FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (May 7, 2010)—Goodyear has extended the deadline to May 14 for employees at its Fayetteville plant to sign up for voluntary layoffs, according to a company spokeswoman.
The Akron-based tire maker had asked about 70 employees at the consumer tire plant to apply for voluntary layoffs as a result of increased usage of automated equipment at the plant.
Goodyear still has not determined whether the layoffs will be permanent or temporary.
