BOWIE, Md. (May 3, 2010)—The Tire Industry Association today opened nominations for its 2010 Tire Industry Hall of Fame. Nominations will be open until July 1, TIA said.
The Hall of Fame is open to anyone of importance to the tire industry, including manufacturers, inventors, publishers, equipment suppliers, dealers, association executives, retreaders and recyclers, TIA said. Among the criteria considered for Hall of Fame candidates are contributions of new ideas, practices and/or innovations that have advanced the tire industry; exemplary and distinguished service in the industry; and the respect of industry peers. Civic, cultural, educational and charitable achievements may also be considered on a secondary basis.
The Hall of Fame also has a “Historical Contributors” category, which recognizes individuals who left the industry at least 20 years ago. “Historical Contributors” may be deceased, retired or working in another industry, TIA said.
TIA will induct the 2010 Hall of Fame honorees at the Global Tire Expo in Las Vegas Nov. 1. To obtain a nomination form, click on the “Hall of Fame” tab under the “About” menu at www.tireindustry.org or call 301-430-7280, ext. 109.
