NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 26, 2010) — Bridgestone Americas will raise prices on its Bridgestone-, Firestone- and associate-brand replacement and original equipment consumer tires by up to 6 percent, effective June 1 in the U.S.
The increase is the second this year for Bridgestone, which raised prices on the same tire types Jan. 1 by up to 5 percent.
“The steady increase in raw materials and energy costs made it necessary for us to take this action,” said Eduardo Minardi, chairman, CEO and president, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations.
“While we are successfully implementing measures at all levels of our company to enhance our efficiencies and increase our productivity, those efforts are simply not enough to overcome the escalation of raw material costs,” he added.
Bridgestone also recently raised prices on farm tires approximately 5 percent in the U.S. and Canada and on OTR tires by up to 4 percent.
