STOCKHOLM, Sweden (April 20, 2010)—Hexpol A.B. finished fiscal 2009 with a 30.8-percent decline in operating profits as sales fell 16.7 percent for its compounding business in what the head of the company said was a turbulent year.
With the company's primary markets and customers reporting volume declines of up to 45 percent Hexpol reported operating profits for its compounding business of $21.7 million on sales of $279.8 million. Those operations contribute 77 percent of Hexpol's sales and 89 percent of its operating income.
About 54 percent of Hexpol's compounding sales are used in automotive market, the company said.
