HANOVER, Germany (April 1, 2010)—ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group has acquired the operations of Flexowell and Pocketlift conveyor belts from Finnish company Metso, the company said.
ContiTech Transportbandsysteme GmbH is taking over the Moers, Germany, plant of Metso Minerals (Deutschland) GmbH, part of the Finnish Metso Group. The factory employs about 60 and produces Flexowell and Pocketlift conveyor belts used primarily in the mining, chemical and steel industries for loose bulk material and steep inclines.
The deal gives ContiTech additional markets and know-how, as well as numerous special belt patents, said Hans-Jurgen Duensing, head of ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group.
Manufacturing will continue at the Moers plant, transfer of business is planned for 1 May 2010. Financial details were not disclosed.
