AKRON (Feb. 12, 2010)—Ford Motor Co. has selected Goodyear's recently launched ultra-high performance tire, the Eagle F1 Super Car G:2, as OE for the 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 with optional performance package.
The GT500—unveiled to the public this week—includes a 5.4-liter, four-valve V8 engine that delivers 550 horsepower and 510 foot pounds of torque at 6,200 rpm. The performance package comes with a racing-tuned suspension along with Goodyear's new UHP tire in size P265/40ZR19 for the front fitment and P285/35ZR20 for the back.
The Eagle F1 Super Car G:2 features include an asymmetric, directional tread design with large tread blocks on the outboard shoulder to enhance dry cornering grip, Goodyear said. Aquachannel grooves on the inboard side of the tread enhance wet cornering grip, while a multi-radius mold shape contributes to precision handling and smooth, even treadwear.
