NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 10, 2010)—Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations L.L.C. has unveiled its next generation Blizzak winter tire, the Blizzak WS70, which will be available in July.
The WS70 will be available in 35 T-speed rated sizes ranging from 15-inches to 18-inches in diameter and 45 to 70 series.
The Nashville-based tire maker said the new Blizzak—which it rolled out at a ride-and-drive event in Steamboat Springs, Colo.—features its proprietary NanoPro-Tech rubber compound that is more flexible to temperature changes and improved Multicell technology with bite particles to provide better traction on snow and ice.
The WS70 also offers water drainage through wider air bubble channels; four main grooves and optimized tread width with an elongated footprint to enhance snow and slush performance; 3-D sipes to reduce flexing for icy and dry road conditions; and deeper tread depth to improve tire wear.
The company said the WS70 is an improvement over its WS60, which will continue to be available in 19 R-speed rated sizes, along with the Blizzak LM60 for high performance vehicles and Blizzak DM-V1 for light trucks and SUVs.
