RUDNIK, Czech Republic (Jan. 5, 2010)—Two people died when a boiler exploded Jan. 4 at an Avon Automotive Holdings Inc. auto parts factory in Rudnik, in northern Czech Republic.
The blast tipped over a truck, killing a woman standing behind it, according to local news reports. Another man reportedly died in surgery, and more than a dozen other people were injured, two seriously.
Avon Automotive said its senior European management team is on their way out to the site and no-one was available for comment. The company said will issue a statement later today.
The Avon Automotive A.S. factory was closed following the incident. The facility employs 380 and makes coolant hoses and molded rubber components for the automotive industry.
