BRUSSELS, Belgium (Dec. 16, 2009)—Recticel has reached a settlement with workers' represetntatives at its Wettern, Belgium, plant to cut 100 employees.
The polyurethane foam products maker earlier had said it needed to close an automotive interiors unit at the site that was making parts for Mercedes, since the car maker wanted all its components from Recticel made at one location, in Germany.
A general reduction in demand for foam products made at the location also was a factor in the decision, the firm said.
The cutbacks affect 80 blue-collar and 30 salaried workers, said Recticel. Currently the site employes 653.
