YANTAI, China (Dec. 15, 2009)—Chinese polyurethane supplier Yantai Wanhua Polyurethanes Co. Ltd plans to spend $1.93 billion on an extensive isocyanate project.
The firm said it will build a 600,000 metric ton methylene diphenyl diisocyanate plant and a 300,000 ton toluene diisocyanate TDI facility in the Lingang Industry Park in the Yantai Economic Development Zone, Shandong Province, China.
Part of the project is the eventual closing of a 200,000 ton MDI plant in at Yantai Zhifu Zone, according to the company.
Yantai Wanhua has said it wants to increase its MDI capacity to 800,000 tons.
