CHONBURI, Thailand (Dec. 10, 2009)—Yokohama Tire Manufacturing (Thailand) Co. Ltd. has achieved zero emissions from its tire plant.
The company said its landfill disposal of waste produced at its Chonburi factory is less than 1 percent. Yokohama Rubber conducted on-site investigations of all contractors commissioned to dispose of waste from the plant, confirming the zero-emissions result.
Yokohama said its existing eight plants in Japan operate on the same zero emission standard, while five of those plants also operate a policy of complete recycling of their waste. The company is working toward all factories attaining zero emissions, which it expects to achieve by the end of fiscal year 2011.
The company also has a tree-planting program to offset its carbon emissions.
