PLYMOUTH, Mich. (Dec. 7, 2009)—Mohsen Sohi will step down as CEO of sealing and vibration control product specialist Freudenberg-NOK G.P. early next year to take a position on Freudenberg & Co.'s management board.
Sohi will join the Freudenberg board May 1, the company announced Dec. 7. On July 1, 2010, he will take over the role of Joerg Sost, who is retiring. In the new position, Sohi will be responsible for the German manufacturer's global portfolio of sealing businesses.
He became CEO of Freudenberg-NOK—a joint venture between Freudenberg and NOK Corp. of Japan—in March 2003. Under his leadership, the company developed a diverse business portfolio that includes many well-known brand names within the industry, the firm said. As CEO, he oversees all company divisions, including Simrit, Corteco, Helix Medical, Dichtomatik and Vibracoustic North America.
Prior to Freudenberg-NOK, Sohi was responsible for the Global Store Automation business of NCR Corp. Before that, he held various management roles of increasing responsibility at AlliedSignal Corp. and Honeywell International Inc. His latest responsibility at Honeywell was as the president of the Honeywell Electronic Materials business.
Sohi earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo., and then his master's and doctorate degrees in mechanical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. He also earned master's and doctorate degrees in business administration from the Wharton School of Management at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
