TOKYO (Nov. 30, 2009)—Tokai Rubber Industries Ltd. has set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in India to make and sell rubber anti-vibration components for the local vehicle industry.
The company has been named Tokai Rubber Auto-Parts India Private Ltd. and is expected to be on stream toward the end of 2010, employing about 20 people. Tokai said it hopes to generate about $49.4 million in sales from the unit during fiscal year 2011.
The new facility will operate from a 14,000-sq.-ft. building in Industrial Park, Karnataka Dodaparapuru, close to Bangalore.
This will be Tokai's tenth AVS plant in seven countries. Tokai currently makes rubber hoses in India through Tokai Imperial Rubber India, established in 2005.
