FINDLAY, Ohio (Nov. 16, 2009)—Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s joint venture manufacturing facility in Kunshan, China, has earned ISO 9001:2008 quality management system certification.
The Cooper Kenda Tire factory, a 50-50 joint venture with Yuanlin, Taiwan-based Kenda Rubber Industrial Co. Ltd., has been producing Cooper-brand tires for export from China since February 2008.
The Kunshan certification marks Cooper's fourth manufacturing facility to be certified under ISO 9001 quality management system standards, according to the Findlay-based tire maker. Last November, Cooper's three U.S. manufacturing facilities—in Findlay; Texarkana, Ark.; and Tupelo, Miss.—also received ISO 9001 certification.
“This latest certification demonstrates Cooper's strict adherence to the highest quality standards, throughout the organization, whether we're operating in the U.S. or in China,” said Roy V. Armes Cooper chairman, president and CEO. “Certification serves as a third-party confirmation of our ongoing commitment to quality and continuous improvement.”
