STEWARTVILLE, Minn. (Nov. 9, 2009)—Medical components manufacturer Rochester Medical Corp. posted net earnings of $109,000 on sales of $34.8 million for the 2009 fiscal year ended Sept. 30.
The performance fell from a year earlier, when the company had net income of $759,000 on sales of $35.2 million. The slight drop in sales resulted from a 2-percent decrease in Rochester branded sales, partially, offset by a 2-percent increase in private label sales, the company said.
In the fourth quarter, the Stewartville-based firm posted a $229,000 net loss on net sales of $9.01 million. Both figures were down from the $342,000 earnings on sales of $9.51 million reported in the final quarter of fiscal 2008.
The U.S. dollar was significantly stronger versus the British pound sterling in the fourth quarter, negatively affecting branded sales levels, Rochester said
