PERSTORP, Sweden (Oct. 8, 2009)—Perstorp Holding A.B. has been forced to shut down its toluene diamine plant in Le Pont de Claix, France, and declare force majeure on deliveries of toluene diisocyanate.
A “technical incident, unpredictable and beyond our control,” resulted in an emergency shutdown of the TDA unit Sept. 27, Perstorp said. “This will severely affect Perstorp's TDI production during the coming weeks and, as a consequence thereof, force majeure has been declared as regards to deliveries of TDI.”
The company said it has taken appropriate steps to remedy the situation but is not yet able to say when the force majeure will end.
