MIDLAND, Mich. (Oct. 6, 2009)—Silicone valve manufacturer LMS Inc. has completed an expansion of its clean room at its Midland site that more than doubles the square footage and allows for more capacity and improved product development, the company said.
The upgrades in the Class 10,000 clean room—now fully operational—were necessary to meet LMS' continued growth in the medical market, said Justin Sessink, the company's sales and marketing coordinator.
The clean area has several rooms incorporated in the new layout, with each room utilizing airflow monitors to ensure the fans are working properly to minimize the risk of any cross contamination, LMS said. Two presses have been added as part of the expansion, as well as several design and layout improvements to optimize workflow and assembly.
The expansion will allow the company to increase the number of its medical projects, offer shorter lead times and maximize cost savings for customers, said Greg Cole, LMS senior process engineer.
