ARLINGTON, Va. (Sept. 23, 2009)—The Center for the Polyurethanes Industry of the American Chemistry Council has named six finalists for its 2009 Polyurethane Innovation Awards.
Winners will be announced Oct. 7 at the end of the Polyurethanes 2009 Technical Conference at the Gaylord National Harbor Hotel in Washington.
In the Polyurethane Chemicals category, the finalists are DuPont, for its introduction of Cerenol, a family of engineered, renewably sourced polyetherdiols; Foam Supplies Inc., for developing Ecomate, a versatile blowing agent for polyurethane foams; and Polymate-INRC, for advancing the technology of nonisocyanate polyurethanes with two-component binders that combine mechanical properties of polyurethanes with the chemical resistance of epoxy binders.
In the Finished Product category, finalists are BASF Corp., for a light-stable, aliphatic polyurethane framed skylight encapsulated with Colofast aliphatic RIM urethane; Icynene Inc., for its “green,” water-based spray foam insulation technology, Icynene LD-R-50; and Fenner Precision, for design and development of a polyurethane tank tire wheels for the U.S. military's Bradley Fighting Vehicle.
