GREENVILLE, S.C. (Sept. 18, 2009)—Michelin North America Inc.'s BFGoodrich Tires brand has launched www.nationofgo.com, a social networking Web site designed to serve as an online community for driving enthusiasts.
The Web site allows members to create driver profiles; upload trip photos and videos; post blogs and events; engage in forum discussions; and follow groups and other drivers who share their interests, Michelin said.
One of the top features of the site gives users the ability to track and record their own driving experiences by plotting drive points along a map, inputting GPS data, latitude and longitude coordinates or uploading information from a mobile device. Photos, videos and customized notes can be added at specific points along the drive route.
Users also can download a free “Nation of GO” mobile application—which is available for the iPhone 3G and 3GS and the Blackberry Curve 8310 and 8330—that allows them to track a drive and take geotagged photos that can be uploaded to the site in real-time. (Geotagging is the process of adding geographical identification metadata to various media such as photographs, video, Web sites or RSS feeds, and is a form of geospatial metadata, which usually consist of latitude and longitude coordinates.)
In addition to the launch of nationofgo.com, BFGoodrich also launched its Nation of GO Tour, a social networking initiative that will travel across the U.S. to spread awareness about the site.
