AKRON (Sept. 11, 2009)—United Steelworkers at Goodyear's plant in Danville, Va., have voted against the union's tentative contract with the tire maker, according to a posting on the union local's Web site.
USW Local 831 said more information would be available soon. A Goodyear spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
The Danville plant is one of seven covered by the union's contract with Goodyear. Six of the seven plants gain protected status in the proposed pact, with Union City, Tenn., being the sole one unprotected.
