LEVERKUSEN, Germany (Sept. 9, 2009)—Lanxess A.G.'s Technical Rubber Products business unit has increased its prices for nitrile-butadiene and chloroprene rubber, effective Sept. 1.
The price hikes are up to $266 per metric ton on NBR and up to $210 per metric ton on CR, the Leverkusen-based specialty chemicals firm said. The increase is a result of rising material costs, the company said.
Marketed under the Lanxess brand names Perbunan, Krynac and Baymod N, NBR is used for seals, hoses in hydraulic and pneumatic applications and blankets for rolls. CR, which Lanxess offers under the Baypren trade name, is used for cable sheathings, hoses, belts and air springs.
