HOUSTON (Sept. 8, 2009)—Snider Tire Inc. has opened a Michelin Retread Technologies plant in Houston to service its four Texas commercial centers.
“We have seen an increase in demand from trucking fleets for emergency roadside service and MRT tire products,” said John Snider, founder and president of Snider Tire. “This new facility will ensure that we can meet the demand with additional production, as well as timely retread delivery to our commercial locations in Texas.”
The new plant is within 240 miles of the farthest of Snider Tire's locations, cutting delivery time by more than 20 percent.
Snider Tire is the fifth largest commercial tire dealership in the U.S. with estimated sales of $180 million and 31 commercial centers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, Georgia, Arkansas, Texas and Virginia. In May, the dealership switched to MRT from Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions and acquired 10 commercial locations from Michelin's Tire Centers L.L.C. subsidiary.
The new Houston plant brings the number of MRT plants in the U.S. to 80.
