FINDLAY, Ohio (Sept. 4, 2009)—Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s new tire supply contract with Sears Holdings Corp. includes a new line exclusive to Sears, the Cooper Response Touring passenger line, as well as Sears' Guardsman Plus line.
Cooper initially disclosed the contract—which is a renewal of a supply relationship after several years hiatus—in early August during a conference call with analysts.
The Guardsman Plus will be offered in 18 sizes, while the Cooper Response Touring comes in 16 sizes, and both offer sizes ranging from 13 to 16 inches.
Cooper did not disclose the size or value of the deal, but Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. research analyst Rod Lache estimated the contract to be worth about 1 million units annually.
The new tires will launch at Sears Auto Centers this fall. The company operates more than 850 Sears Auto Centers throughout the U.S.
