TOKYO (Aug. 25, 2009)—Tokai Rubber Industries Ltd. plans to close its anti-vibration products factory in Okayama, Japan, in March with the loss of 110 jobs.
The production will be consolidated at two other Japanese plants.
Tokai blamed the move on the global slowdown in automotive supply since last fall.
The Okayama factory has generated sales of about $847.7 million in 2008. It makes rubber anti-vibration products for the automotive industry.
