LONDON (July 16, 2009)—Waha Oil Co, the second-largest oil producer in Libya, has hired a London law firm to bring a lawsuit against Dunlop Oil & Marine Ltd. for its involvement in a marine hose price-fixing cartel.
Waha made significant purchases of marine hose from Dunlop and the other companies during the period the price-fixing was ongoing, according to London law firm Hausfeld. The plaintiff's attorney also confirmed it is talking to other claimants who want to take action against Dunlop, and continues to hold discussion with other potential plaintiffs.
Hausfeld partner Anthony Maton said the action follows the settlement with Parker ITR, which also was involved in the price-fixing. Customers of Parker ITR are able to claim compensation for losses occurring because of the cartel, no matter where the customers are located nor where the marine hose was bought.
Maton said that deal also calls for Parker ITR to cooperate in bringing claims against other co-conspirators.
