WASHINGTON (July 9, 2009)—The use of retread tires on official vehicles would both save the federal government money and promote the Obama administration's environmental and conservation goals, according to the Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau.
TRIB Managing Director Harvey Brodsky sent a letter to President Obama and all members of Congress noting retreads and proper tire repairs save hundreds of millions of gallons of oil every year and reduce the scrap tire problem. Brodsky, in his July 8 letter, said Federal Executive Order 13149 mandates the use of retreads on certain government vehicles.
He invited all recipients and their staff members to tour retread plants.
