GREENVILLE, S.C. (June 25, 2009)—Michelin North America Inc. has received a National Business Group on Health's Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles award for its efforts to help employees and their families make better choices about their own health and well-being.
The NBGH honored Michelin along with 62 other companies during its annual health care summit in Washington. The award, which is in its fifth year, recognizes employers that have embraced a culture of wellness and work collaboratively to improve the health, productivity and quality of life for workers.
Michelin earned an award for its Choose Well—Live Well program, which it launched in January. The long-term strategy provides Michelin employees and their families with a health advocate to help them navigate the health care system and improve efficiency through better coordination of care, the company said.
Michelin's program also shifts the focus of health care from treatment to preventative care and integrates a consumer-driven medical plan design with healthy food choices, health risk assessments, health coaching, weight and condition management and other features, the company said.
