ULSAN, Korea (June 18, 2009)–Songwon Industrial Co. Ltd.'s $20 million isobutylene production facility is in full production.
Chairman and CEO Jongho Park said this plant, located at the Maeam site in South Korea, is the first large scale IBL production facility globally and has a total capacity of 30,000 tons.
It is also based on proprietary t-butanol cracking technology, which Park said will ensure that quality is consistently of the highest level and that commercially the company will be a strong competitive force in the market place.
Songwon said this facility will free them from the volatile market pricing of IBL, which is an important component in its wide range of antioxidants, and will use less energy to achieve its production volume.
