CLERMONT-FERRAND, France (May 28, 2998)—Michelin is celebrating the creation of the company 120 years ago today, May 28, by brothers Edouard and Andre Michelin.
The company has unveiled a special exhibit at its L'Aventure Michelin museum in the Cataroux industrial site in northern Clermont-Ferrand. The exhibition hall, which opened in March, has been installed in an entirely renovated production plant, and pays tribute to Michelin's past, present and future is organized by theme and by chronology.
The Michelin brothers founded the company, Michelin & Cie., on the site of a former convent at Carmes-Dechausses, now known as Carmes. Two years later the brothers began making the de-mountable bicycle tire.
