CARY, N.C. (May 19, 2009)—Lord Corp. has moved into its new Shanghai, China, plant, roughly tripling production capacity.
Lord said it built the nearly 65,000-sq.-ft. facility to meet growing demand for its products, particularly its Chemlok Adhesives product line.
The location replaces Lord's facility in Zhang Jiang, Shanghai, and includes more than 10 process improvements, such as an advanced foam fire suppression system with a centralized computer controlled system and a pollution prevention system to capture solvent vapors and expel them into a regenerative carbon collection system.
The site also includes a 6,460-sq.-ft. technical center, which supports local product development and provides technical service and customer application support. The plant's manufacturing and warehouse can be expanded by 24,000 square feet, along with expansion capabilities of the technical support center. The manufacturing capacity can be expanded by about 6,000-8,000 metric tons.
