UITENHAGE, South Africa (April 27, 2009)—Goodyear has spent $7.9 million at its Uitenhage plant for molds and other technologies to produce a line of tires primarily for the domestic market.
The company said the products include the Duramax G22, DuraGrip and the Wrangler AT/SA.
Goodyear's Duramax G22, which has been engineered specifically for South Africa's minibus taxis, which are particularly hard on their tires. The DuraGrip was developed to cope with all the stop-start pressures of constant city-driving, in all weather conditions. The Wrangler AT/SA now includes Goodyear´s proprietary SilentArmor technology.
