GELEEN, Netherlands (April 20, 2009)—DSM N.V. has doubled its global production capacity for Sarlink thermoplastic vulcanizate with an expansion at its Gent, Belgium, factory.
David Huizing, president of the DSM Thermoplastic Elastomer Materials Inc. division, said the firm brought on-line the extra capacity at its Genk facility earlier this year. He declined to give capacity figures.
The division president said its business has been growing at around 15 percent annually, compared with a sector growth rate closer to 10 percent.
DSM Thermoplastic Materials has been limited on capacity since 2007, and the new investment will allow the company to continue to expand for years to come, Huizing said. The cost of the project wasn't disclosed.
