AKRON (April 1, 2009)—Goodyear's aviation tires division is celebrating 100 years of developing and manufacturing airplane tires.
The tire maker said since the founding of its aviation division in 1909, it has created several “firsts” in the industry, including the first retreadable aircraft tire, first low pressure aviation tire and the first radial aircraft tire approved by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Goodyear also has introduced the Flight Eagle LT (for light turbine) tire for the entry level light and very light jet business segments. The company said the tire features a 6-ply tire casing, high-speed tread compound and reinforced bead area.
