LUDWIGSHAFEN, Germany (March 17, 2009)—BASF S.E. may re-assess the timing of opening a methylene diphenyl diisocyanate plant in Chongqing, China.
The company originally planned to open the facility in 2010, but supplier of polyurethane raw materials now expects the global MDI market to decline in 2009, with “China being no exception,” a BASF official said.
Because of that, the company is reconsidering the timing of the expansion, although “we are absolutely committed to the project,” the company official said.
