WASHINGTON (Feb. 4, 2009)—Goodyear has introduced the Assurance Fuel Max all-season tire line with promises of 4-percent better fuel mileage.
Launched this week at the company's 2009 dealer meeting in Washington, the new tire offers 27-percent less rolling resistance than the company's original Assurance all-season that's been on the market since 2004, without sacrificing traction or treadwear, Goodyear said. This amount of reduction equates to a 4-percent increase in fuel economy.
Goodyear provided few technical details as to how it achieved the improvements, other than to say it uses a “fuel-saving” tread compound.
The Akron-based tire maker is backing the new tire with a 65,000-mile limited treadlife warranty.
