CHICAGO (Jan. 21, 2009)—The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency cited BRC Rubber & Plastics Inc. for clean-air violations at its Montpelier, Ind., plant and wants the automotive parts and coatings maker to pay a fine of $109,784.
The EPA said the facility emitted excessive amounts of organic hazardous air pollutants in violation of federal regulations and its state operating permit. The company has 30 days to respond to the complaint and request a hearing.
The company also may request an informal conference with the EPA to discuss resolving the allegations, the EPA said.
