PALMYRA, N.Y. (Jan. 13, 2009)—Garlock Sealing Technologies has received recognition for its environmental and resource conservation efforts.
The company received a 2008 Business Achievement Award from the Environmental Business Journal for replacing a volatile organic compound and listed hazardous air pollutant with a more environmentally friendly solvent in its production of sheet gasketing. The firm completed a five-year, $3 million project that eliminated an average of 119 tons of emissions per year at its Palmyra, N.Y., plant.
The award will be presented Feb. 20 at the publication's Environmental Industry Summit VII in Coronado, Calif.
Garlock also was given the Rochester Business Journal's environmental leadership award for its environmental and resource conservation measures undertaken in its five-year, $30 million plant modernization program.
