ENSCHEDE, Netherlands (Jan. 5, 2009)—Amtel-Vredestein N.V., saying it is responding to speculation the company might not continue, has released unaudited financial information for its fiscal year ended in December 2007.
The tire maker's directors said they prepared accounts assuming the company will continue as a going concern.
“There is no certainty that the business will not be continued,” the firm said in a statement. The financial information—issues to the Dutch Chamber of Commerce—included a warning the company may not survive.
Amtel-Vredestein suspended production at two tire plants in Russia last year following the collapse of a merger agreement with Sibur Russian Tyres.
