DUSIDE, Liberia (Dec. 15, 2008)—Firestone Liberia and Firestone Natural Rubber Co. have reopened the Firestone Medical Center in Duside as an inpatient hospital.
The 300-bed hospital was severely damaged during the 1989-2003 Liberian civil war, Firestone said, and all of its medical equipment was stolen or destroyed. The rebuilt center is now a better, more modern facility than it was before the war, the company said.
Dan Adomits, president of Firestone Natural Rubber, said the company is focused and committed to the rebuilding the war-torn country.
