FINDLAY, Ohio (Dec. 15, 2008)—Union employees at Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s Texarkana, Ark., tire plant ratified a three-year contract Dec. 13.
In October, Findlay-based Cooper launched a 90-day capacity study of its four U.S. tire plants, including the Texarkana plant. The company said the study will likely result in the closing of one plant. Cooper also recently signed a pact with unionized workers at its plant in Findlay.
Mark Krivoruchka, senior vice president, global human resources for Cooper said the union members provided guidance and cooperation to help the Texarkana plant achieve cost savings in order to help strengthen Cooper Tire's competitive position.
