TOKYO (Dec. 9, 2008)-Bridgestone (Huizhou) Synthetic Rubber Co. Ltd. officially opened its SBR plant Dec. 8 in Huzhou, Guangdong Province, China.
The facility, located on a 2.16 million-sq.-ft. site, is projected to have annual capacity of 50,000 metric tons and employ about 210, according to parent firm Bridgestone Corp.
Bridgestone said it expects demand for high-performance tires to increase in Asia, including China, so the firm forecasts demand to also rise for synthetic rubber with an "ability to provide outstanding performance in tires."
The Tokyo-based firm said one of its management goals is to be the undisputed No. 1 tire and rubber company globally and, to that end, "is working to enhance competitiveness throughout the entire supply chain."
Shinsuke Yamaguchi will serve as president of the new SBR operation.
