INKSTER, Mich. (Dec. 3, 2008) — Cerion L.L.C. has acquired EaglePicher Corp.'s Hillsdale Automotive business unit for an undisclosed amount.
Headquartered in Inkster, Hillsdale Automotive will be renamed Metavation and continue to operate its manufacturing facilities in Hillsdale, Mount Pleasant, Vassar and Traverse City, Mich., along with another plant in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
Metavation will continue run by its former management team headed by President John Hrit and plans to retain the majority of its 650 employees, a spokeswoman said. Some white collar posts may be consolidated, she said, but that has to do with the slide of the automotive industry rather than the acquisition.
The company makes parts such as dampers for noise, vibration and harshness applications, skip yokes, knuckles and a number of other components for engines, transmissions and chassis.
