SHANGHAI (Nov. 20, 2008) — Rhodia S.A. has opened a research and development center in Shanghai to spearhead its efforts in the Asia-Pacific region.
The specialty chemical maker said the center is dedicated to the Asian market and will focus on developing high technology innovations to provide cost-effective solutions in a number of areas, including providing support for Rhodia's industrial activities and working on process improvements.
Rhodia said that by 2010, the R&D center will employ 150 research scientists. The firm spent about $149 million on the project.
